Compared to his Gospel, John’s Epistles are neglected, yet they speak powerfully to many problems Christians face today. John was uniquely placed to bear witness to Jesus Christ, but also to set out simple tests to distinguish what is real from what is counterfeit in Christian profession. According to John, those born into God’s family reflect His character - live the life of holiness, practice self-sacrificing love, and faithfully adhere to the biblical presentation of the person and work of Christ.
