The latest in our Archive series, providing a facsimile of Volume 10 of Precious Seed Magazine for 1959.

The first edition came out in September 1945 shortly after the end of World War II. It resulted from the exercise of a number of brethren in South-West England who were burdened to meet the need among assemblies in the UK for a consistent ministry of the word through a well-balanced and Christ-centred magazine. Its stated purpose was that, on a monthly basis, articles of an evangelistic, expository and informative nature should be freely available to all.

While the aim to publish monthly was never realized, the other three objectives most certainly were. Even today the magazine is characterized by these qualities: evangelistic; expository; informative.

New writers continue to appear and the international flavour and reach of the magazine is evident. A series entitled When thy son asketh thee which commenced in the last two magazines of 1958 continued throughout 1959. This was later to become one of the first Precious Seed booklets and is still in print, now called The Local Church.

The extensive Reports Section continues to be a fascinating record of gospel activity and pioneer work – one noticeable feature being young people giving up their summer holidays for evangelistic effort.
