Ritchie New Testament Commentaries, Volume 2 (hard cover). What the Bible Teaches. Matthew, by John Heading (viii 4-414 pages), and Mark, by Harold Paisley (176 pages). Published by J. Ritchie, Kilmarnock. Available from bookshops, £7.95, or from the first author (see rear cover of this magazine).
Such a commentary as this is much needed by believers in assemblies. We heartily commend it, for, although it will demand time and application to gain the benefit it provides, careful use alongside the Scriptures will bring great rewards in the understanding of, and love of, the Word itself. J. Heading’s contribution is very full, like his other writings, enabling the student to work patiently through the book verse-by-verse. H. Paisley’s part, though less detailed, nevertheless provides a very readable introduction, a helpful out- line, and more of a devotional commentary.
