Why Did Christ Die?

In dying, the Lord Jesus had many ends in view. The texts quoted below mention several of these

1. “For to this end Christ died, and lived again, that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living”. Rom. 14. 9 R.V.
2. “ … our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world”. Gal. 1. 3, 4.
“that he might reconcile both (Jew and Gentile) unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity”. Eph 2. 16
3. “Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it . that he might present it to himself a glorious church”. Eph. 5. 25, 27.
4. “ … Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity”. Tit. 2. 14
5. “Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered”. Heb. 13. 12.
